Band Bios

E.G. Peters

E.G.

has been playing music since he was 12 years old. At the age of 16 he played table to table in restaurants for tips. After moving to Raleigh in 1988, he avidly played the fraternities and sororities around NC State, UNC, and Duke, as well as the local bar scene. In 1994 he established a knock down performance at clubs and private affairs. E.G. has a God given musical instrument, his voice, and it shines through like no other! Being the band leader, his main goal is to insure all clients are happy and singing the band’s praises. He provides special attention to detail to insure your special event is the best event you could dream it to be.

Whitt Helton

Whitt

holds down the beat for the band. He began playing drums at the age of 10 and has been passionate about music from that point on. He has had the opportunity to perform with many regional acts and headline for national artist as well. Being in and around the music business for over 25 years has given Whitt a well rounded musical background to perform all styles of music The EG Peters Band song list demands. No matter what our client’s request, a ballad with a steady back beat or rock, funk and dance grooves that will pull you onto the dance floor, Whitt always takes care of business. A family man first, he is a dedicated husband and father. By day he runs his own lawn care company, in the evening and weekends he spends time with his family, and when the band hits the stage he does what he was born to do. Perform Music!

Terry Gilda

Terry

is a graduate of Berklee School of Music and has been a working musician his entire life. He has been the experienced, on call sideman in St. Louis, St. Johns NFLD, Nashville, Boston and Washington DC, as well as leading bands of his own. As the seasoned Road Warrior, he toured with several different artists and bands. His travels have taken him from the Las Vegas Strip to the far reaches of Labrador and almost everywhere in between. He actually has played Fargo with a guy named Steve! As a session player, he has recorded with numerous acts. He operated his own recoding studio-jingle house, producing Indie Artists, scoring corporate films, and writing and producing music for several award winning commercials.

Matt Kanon

Matt

has a Music Degree from Mansfield University in Pennsylvania and has been playing professionally ever since 1998. He has been performing in cover bands and theatrical productions in the DC/Baltimore area for several years before moving to NC in 2004. Matthew plays classical guitar every other month at Irregardless Café, along with theatrical productions in the Raleigh area and a classical guitarist for weddings in the NC/VA area. Matthew got his musical start in the Raleigh area by playing with EG at his weekly open mic and is proud to finally find a “home” in the EG Peters Band. Always seeking innovative ways to express music, Matthew is looking forward to filling the dance floors and enhancing EG’s band with a new sound and great players.

Derek Arnold

Derek

Derek Arnold was born in Charlotte, NC in 1983. He began playing the piano at age 3, and by 17 had mastered the piano, the clarinet, drums, guitar, and bass guitar. He has been performing and singing professionally since he was 15. Derek’s father, Harvey Dalton Arnold, was the bassist in the legendary southern rock group The Outlaws, and still enjoys a career in music today. Along with entertaining thousands in the EG Peters Band, Derek also enjoys his career in teaching music and composing classical music. He has written numerous works including sonatas, concertas, and a full latin Mass.
